AC/DC is an Australian music band.
This band was founded in 1973 by Malcom YOUNG.


In 1973, it was formed of :

• Malcom YOUNG - rhythmic guitar -
• Angus YOUNG - solo guitar -
• Dave EVANS - voice -
• Lary VAN KRIED - bass guitar -
• Coli BURGESS - drums -
  

These days, it is formed of :

• Malcom YOUNG - rhythmic guitar -
• Angus YOUNG - solo guitar -
• Brian JOHNSON - voice -
• Cliff WILLIAMS - bass guitar -
• Phill RUDD - drums -
  

In between, there were also :

• 1 singer : Bon SCOTT (dead in Febrary 1980)
• 3 men for bass guitar : Rob BAILEY, George YOUNG, Mark EVANS
• 3 men for drums : Toni CURRENTI, Simon WRIGHT, Chris SLADE.
  

Note : The name "AC/DC" came from Malcom's sister, who had seen these letters on the back of a Singer sewind machine. In fact, "AC/DC" stands for a "Alternating Current/Direct Current".

Angus YOUNG : one of the best guitarists !

Angus YOUNG was born in Glasgow (Scotland) on March 31th, 1955.
He is the youngest child of his family.
In 1963, he left Scotland with his family to move to Sydney (Australia).
He left school at 15 years old, preferring to work to buy music equipment to become a guitarist.

Before meeting 'AC / DC', he created his band 'Tantrum' .

On stage :

He practices on Gibson SG models.
During concerts, Angus YOUNG wears a schoolboy uniform and he often uses a "duckwalk" dance step.

Up to now, Angus YOUNG is viewed as one of the best guitarists in his category.

He was classed 96 in "The 100 Greatest Guitarits of All Time" rating.

AC / DC : Discography

AC/DC has released no less 24 albums from 1975 to date. The
25th is planned for the first trimester 2008 (it's a very important date !).




In 1975 and 1976, 2 albums were released - "Hight Voltage" and "T.N.T" -. These albums weren't circulated outside of Australia.
To win over foreign music fans, the band released an album that
regrouped their 2 first albums, for the U.S.A and Europe in 1976.

Later, others albums were released :

• "Let There Be Rock", in March 1977
  
• "PowerRage" and "If You Want Blood" - first live album - in 1978
• "Hightway To Hell", in July 1979. It's the ordination album.
• "Back in Black", in July 1980.
• This is an homage to Bon Scott, who died in Febrary.This is a very big hit. In fact, it is the second best selling album (63 million copies) in all categories, just after Michael Jackson's album : "Thriller".
• "For Those About to Rock", in 1981
• "Flick of the Switch" - July 1983 - and "Fly on the Wall" - June 1985 -
• These 2 albums were a commercial flop.
• "Who Made Who", in 1986.
• "Blow up Your Video", in 1988. This album was recorded in France.
• "The Razor's Edge", in 1990.
• "BallBreaker", in 1995.
  

In 1997, 3 albums - "Volts", "Live in Paris", "Live from Atlantic Studio" - came out.
Next, in 2000, "Stiff Upper Lip" was released.
